PROJECTES: Centre for Abandoned Children at Koilakuntla


DETECTED PROBLEMS

There are plenty of children abandoned in the streets or escaped from their homes. Haribala would like to construct an Orphanage in order to give shelter to these children and avoid the exploitation of the infants. The resting 10% benefit of the anterior project Nº 1, goes to the maintenance of the Orphanage.

We find many problems in this case and most of them arise as the consequence of the other. The main problem we observe and worry are:
  • Caste
    he Constitution of India abolished every kind of Caste system, but in the Rural India this system is very influenced and it’s worst if we see the “Dalits” or “Untouchables”; they live working hard in the fields of the upper caste landlords.
  • Abandonament
    Due to the penuries to which they are submitted, the "Dalits", are obligated, often, to abandon their children and above all if they are female children.
  • Sanitary
    Unfortunately the level of the Infant mortality is very high. Due to the abandonment these children live in the streets and railway station where their sanitarian situation is deplorable.
  • Nutrition
    These infants those who live on the streets are not well nourished, most of them eat which they find in the rubbish of the restaurants.
  • Delinquency and prostitution.
    Many of these children are organized or controlled by the bands or gangs and some fall in the hands of the mafia and many girls are sold to the brothel houses of the big citie    s.

USTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT

The most significant arguments which justify this project are:

  • That the abandoned girls and boys (between 3 to 16 years of age), the children of the low castes or with low economic resources, can attend the school and have educatio
  • That, these girls and boys when they will be 17 years old they can leave the Orphanage having a future project with hope and to defend their futur
  • That the child exploitation or child labour will be avoided.
  • That the child exploitation or child labour will be avoided.
  • To better the education, nutrition and sanity of the children.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The main and important thing in Haribala for this project is to give refuge to the girls and boys abandoned, orphans or those who have low economic resources of the district of Kurnool and thus can give them a shelter where they live, eat, learn and above all where they can smile.
